Winter Arts Market 2022 Statement

Open Culture and Liverpool Cathedral regret to announce that the 2022 Winter Arts Market, which was due to take place on 3 December, has had to be cancelled as it could not be successfully placed within the cathedral’s new advent schedule of events.

The Cathedral has enjoyed a good partnership with Open Culture and the several hundred independent traders over the past few years and we know for many this has been a highlight event. However, the cathedral has a packed advent programme for 2022 with a major new event planned which meant that sadly the arts market could not be accommodated within the cathedral this year.

The team at Open Culture have given much thought and consideration to hosting the 2022 Winter Arts Markets at an alternative venue, but at this time we have not been unable to secure a suitable location on the dates we require.

It is a hard for us to share this update with you all, as we know this news will be disappointing. But please remember Open Culture’s priority has always been for our stallholders and public satisfaction, and we must ensure that our Arts Markets provide stallholders and visitors alike with the highest quality market platform. We do not want to compromise on this, it’s tricky to balance the complexities of a venue move plus an event date change, when considering the scale of our team and the level of planning and preparation that’s required.

We’ve been keen to get this message out as soon as possible, to ensure as stallholders you don’t hold the early December date when potentially there could be other lucrative opportunities available at this stage. We are considering options for the 2023 Summer and Winter Arts Markets and will keep you all posted.

We are very grateful to all of you who have helped us to make the Arts Markets what they’ve grown to since 2008. As we say above, our aim at Open Culture has always been to provide artists, designers, creators and makers with the best possible platform to grow and develop all those incredible small businesses you have.
