Open Culture is a social enterprise that wants you and everyone you know to take part in more arty stuff. Mainly because it’s proven to make your life a bit better.
We aim to nurture and support the arts in Merseyside across a variety of projects, platforms and events; inspiring people to create culture and developing their knowledge of and access to cultural events and activities.
We staged the first Winter Arts Market at St George’s Hall in December 2009, and the first Summer Arts Market in 2013, before moving to Liverpool Cathedral in 2016. Now Merseyside’s largest, the markets feature more than 200 artists, designers and makers plus children’s craft workshops, a vintage fair, food fair, music and much more.
Open Culture also works to build partnerships and collaborations that maximise the cultural offer on Merseyside. Alongside the Summer and Winter Arts Markets, our projects include the likes of LightNight, Liverpool’s annual one night arts and culture festival and Tickle the Ivories, a street piano busking festival in Liverpool ONE.
We’re always excited to be able to showcase such a fantastic range of work by local artists and makers; it really shows the depth of creative talent here in Liverpool, whilst also supporting and sustaining the local creative economy.Charlotte Corrie, Director, Open Culture
